Carolyn Pimental

Carolyn Pimentel and her husband, Jack, have operated a family cattle and hay ranch just outside of Etna since 1970.  Their operation includes public land cattle grazing in the Marble Mountain Wilderness.  She studied secretarial business and has a degree in fine art from California State University at Northridge; she also has a limited service teaching credential.  She has been active in the community for many years.  They have two grown children and four granddaughters.  She has served as District Manager since 1996.

 

Dave Black

Gary Black is the Senior Project Coordinator and has been with the District since 1995.  He and his brother operate the family’s organic wheat and hay farm.  He and his wife Shannon have three children.  Gary was awarded the 2004 Nathaniel S. Bingham Memorial Award for his work in restoring fish habitat.  In 2006 he was honored recipient of the California Fish and Game Director’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Anadromous Fish Conservation and Restoration.  With cooperation of local landowners, Gary has had a vital part in developing new projects and approaches to restoration through numerous projects on private lands in the Scott River watershed.  He represented the Scott River Watershed Council on the Shasta-Scott Coho Recovery Team, and worked hundreds of hours in the development and negotiations of the Draft Incidental Take Permit for Siskiyou RCD Scott River Watershed Coho Permit Program. 

 

Rick Barnes

Brenda Hurlimann has served as the District Bookkeeper since 1998, and has become expert in adapting QuickBooks and Excel programs to meet the financial needs of the District.  She has lived in Scott Valley since 1982 and has two daughters and a son in college.  

 

GFarnam

Danielle Quigley Yokel has a master’s degree in chemistry and has served as our Technical Project Coordinator since 2000.  She and her husband, Erich, came to the area in 1998 serving with AmeriCorps.  Their first child was born in April 2005.  Danielle is highly skilled in technical programs.  She is responsible for temperature monitoring, flow gauging, water balance, in-field data collection, and also does designing for fish screens.

Erich

Erich Yokel started in June of 2003 on a part time basis for fish counts, surveys, and coordinating the Limiting Factor’s Analysis (LFA).  He has extensive scientific fisheries knowledge and background, and in November of 2005 became our full time Fishery Projects Coordinator.  He is responsible for fishery, habitat, and typing investigation, in-field data collection, and was instrumental in the production of a DVD documentary about Summer Rearing of Coho Salmon in the Scott Valley.

Preston Harris joined the Siskiyou RCD team in July of 2006 as Assistant or Apprentice Project Coordinator.  He has been assisting Gary, Danielle, and Erich in many aspects of on-the-ground projects, surveys, and monitoring.  He is proving to be of great assistance to the resource conservation goals of the District.  He and his wife Jill are expecting their first child in October of 2007.

Bill Watrous joined us in 2002 for part-time work on fish screen maintenance. He and his wife Sandy have lived in Scott Valley for many years and he is very familiar with the area as many of the fish screen are located in difficult to access areas.  He also keeps track of our field survey crews and sees that they get out of their remote survey areas safe and sound.  Bill is a big help where ever the need may be in the field.

Brannon Walsh

Brannon Walsh has been working with the Siskiyou RCD since the fall of 2007.  Brannon brings a knowledge of water quality and fisheries monitoring to the RCD. 

MANY OTHER local part-time temporary employees and subcontractors fulfill various specialized project needs.  The District has and follows policies for public bidding processes, for procurement of professional & construction services, and procurement of materials that are needed to complete projects.  The success of the District is truly a team effort of many local talented individuals, consulting services, agencies, and businesses.
